Tom Marriott is our guest for this episode. Tom is Jazz Musician on a mission, to bring a sense of community to the Jazz music scene in Seattle. Tom has started the Seattle Jazz Fellowship. A non-profit dedicated to providing mentorship to young aspiring talent. By working alongside experienced music veterans. The goal is a five day a week venue that will allow musicians to work together to pay their dues, learn the ropes, and develop their musical craftsmanship.Currently The Seattle Jazz Fellowship is hosting Fellowship Wednesdays at Vermillion on Capitol Hill. After the listening and social hour you will be treated to a showcase of two of the Seattle areas top jazz artists. Tom shares his musical journey from growing up with a dad who was a radio DJ to going to Garfield High School and then the University of Washington. After graduation Tom went on tour with Maynard Ferguson. Eventually Tom settled back in Seattle where he is has produced 13 albums as a band leader.Tom was a wonderful guest and you will enjoy listening to our conversation.
